Using a standard QWERTY keyboard to control a Starturn 5

I've not done anything with my lathe in a while since building up the ATC again and turning a test piece. I think I need to adjust the height of the cutters a little but that's another story.

So far I have been running the Starturn using the denford tutor keyboard (infact it is an Starmill keyboard and I have done my own overlay as it is pre swappable overlays).
I found it very frustrating that I could only open/save files as numbers, so could anyone tell me how to configure the go file to run a standard keyboard and then how to control that machine using it.

I just want to see how I get on with it using each format.

Also is there anyway to change the default path that the DOS control program looks to for loading and saving files. I have quite a structure to the file locations on my network to try and keep them tidy. I do the designing in the house and have the PC in the garage on the network.

Cheers

Pete

Cheers Martin, Boy that was a long thread to get him going.

At least I will be able to play using the QWERTY keyboard, I had got the hand of the tutor for control it was just the filenames.

Is there any info on setting the default path for the 'job' files, I looked through as many of the programs/files as possible using notepad to see if it was written in them but didn't see it. There is a chance I missed it.
