Hi Steve,
I want to upgrade my system to VR Milling. Currently my system is running DOS v 2.1a on a Starmill ATC. There is lot of information on this site and I have pored through lot of it. Could you point me to couple items from which I can easily determine whether I can upgrade with my system and if so what would be the best way. I would also like to get out of DOS operating system and use another machine to connect to the Starmill ATC. Should I do that first and if so what is the best way.

I can attach pictures of the innards of the control box of my machine if that helps you in pointing me in the right direction.

Thank you for your help.

Regards,

Jai

ps: I am a total newbie to CNC machining but have done decades of engineering and can wrap my head around most electrical and electronics.

Hi,

The Starmill is a machine that is supported by VR Milling 5

To make this run you would have to purchase VR Milling 5 and an EPROM to allow the control card to communicate.

A photo of the control panel would help.

Please use the POST to answer this.

Thanks Steve.
Attached are couple pictures of the control box and the front of the machine. This machine did not come with a desktop tutor.

The machine you have is fitted with a North East Electronics SMCU control card which will not upgrade to VRMilling.

The goal was to be able to import simple drawings dxf dwg and also to be able to make simple PCBs with Gerber import. What are the options to be able to do this? Can I upgrade to Mach3 software and will that be the right path?
