Post by Benny » Wed 07 Mar , 2007 19:52 pm

Orac
dispatch date December 1987- yes 20 years old!
S/N E03266/8
Electronics S/N 78114548

Need new chuck as too worn and of no use. Are these chucks commonly available? What is the shaft size and thread?

I cannot trace the chuck details at the moment but am in contact with an old staff member who may know of the chuck details and manufacturer. Our later records for Orac's just shows the chuck details as " Pneumatic / Electronic" but these chucks could have been special ones for our FMS systems.

Therefore can you confirm, is the chuck manually or automatic in operation?

Can you post pictures of the chuck on the forum?

One of our chuck suppliers was a British company called Richard Leader, if you have taken the chuck off are there any serial No's etc that may help us to identify?

Although I can't remember details of this chuck I think they were the same as those used on "Starturn 8", and were a 'standard' chuck that should be avaiable from other sources (as opposed to a "special" Denford specific chuck).

So I suggest you try any machine tool tooling supplier - they may be able to help
