The Orac turret that I bought recently looks like it's never been installed on a lathe. It came with a mounting plate that is about 4.50mm thick and has a hole pattern that matches the hole pattern of the turret itself. When the turret is mounted without the plate, the tools are about 3.50mm too low, and with the plate they are about 1mm too high (obviously). I would like to know if Denford intended for the plate to be shaved to customize the height for a specific machine, or if the plate was supposed to be used as-is and the adjustment on the turret itself used to bring the tools to the correct height. When I google pictures of Orac turrets I do not see this plate installed. My turret is a fairly late model (1990) so maybe they made the later turrets shorter to fit more than one model of lathe? Does anyone have or remember the Denford installation instructions regarding this plate? I don't want to bugger up the plate or the turret adjustment if I was supposed to change the other one instead.
cheers,
