deejay,
Its been a while since I set up flstep on my novaturn, I hope this thread from when I sorted mine helps... dont forget to use dosbox, or boot your machine in dos mode if you've got hardware rs232 ports. From memory running in windows didnt work well at all and dosbox worked OK ish but I found it prone to comms failures mid programme hence unusable (with confidence) for actually cutting workpieces.

does anyone know why only a DOS program will connect a novaturn or novamill machine that has ESmint3.28 eprom chip on the denstep control board?

Windows software was never written to talk to the 3.28 firmware
When the move to windows development happened, Denford worked with Baldor to improve the firmware and hardware...more IO on the base board, faster communication via rs232 and move buffering.

we have no experience of BOB's but others forum members have used different ones in the past.
This one looks good as it's opto-isolated I/O and an isolated analogue out which is essential for some of the cheaper spindle drives we have used.
