Hi All,

Help is required - just purchased a microrouter....saw it working before pickup / packed into van now when I have it setup in our workshop the vr software will not find the machine giving the check fuse / rs232 cable etc etc (using pc & cable that machine was demonstrated with).....what can I check incase I have altered something by mistake.

I should have added that the red led on the pcb initially starts with "L" then displays 5.....don't know if this is significant.

Any help would be appreciated, thanks

how many RS232 ports are there on the PC, try it in the other one if it has 2.

Hi Pete,

It only has 1, the microrouter was powered up the night before to demonstrate......could I be doing something silly? I picked the machine from the drop list / hit cancel to accept default offsets then press the real cnc button....It tries for a while then giveselect the error msg about fuses / 232 link (I have checked all fuses - they are ok). Could I have the comms wrong??

Thanks again
Charlie

Hi

What version of VRMilling are you using?

Hi All,

Driven mad here....I have now installed vr milling on another PC and still no joy ( this one has 2 ports) have tried both of them but still no joy. I'm using ver: 5.63.0.680. This was working OK when the guy I bought it from demonstrated it - moved to workshop / connected and now not working??!!

Does anyone know if there are specific settings for the com port even / odd / flow control / stop bit etc etc....

confused.com this end....

Does anyone know where I can buy a new rs232 cable? Does denford still supply this.

Thanks again
Charlie

Hi All,

Out of utter frustration I resorted to going through all the machine types.....eventually I went to legacy machines and using the router denstep it worked!! Still don't know why it doesn't work under the correct picture of microrouter?? it all seems to work ok.....any thoughts??

Thanks again
Charlie

Your machine has a Dendtep top card with a red seven segment LED. This is what VRMilling version 5 calls legacy.

The standard list is for a machine fitted with a NextStep top card with an orange or green LED.

They both use different comms to communicate.

Very odd that between being shown the machine and getting it home the PC has 'forgotten' the settings In about 16yrs of using VR milling V2 and more recently 5yrs of V5 I've never come across this. Getting it set up initially (virgin install on a PC) I've spent hours getting the communications set up when leads have gone missing and having to go through combinations.

It's all part of the fun, at least now you know for the future.
