Machine capabilities

Post by mike dempsey » Fri 22 Jan , 2016 21:00 pm

According to the book the y axis parameter should be 320m but when I am moving it to the fullest extent it only moves 270mm. I checked the parameters and as can be seen on the photo it is listed as 270mm. Can it be changed to 320mm and is it just a case of altering the 270mm number to 320 in the capabilities chart.
Also when I am routering a project the description in the Editor has it listed as a Novamill and not a V3 Microrouter. Maybe this issue is linked?

Thank you in anticipation of your help

Mike

We changed the value when we upgraded to the larger porter cable spindle motor. Just change the value as you said & see if you can jog it to 320mm.

Have you got the right machine selected? Right mouse click on Router V3 & then click on set as active.

Hi martin, thanks for the info. I will try this later on today when I am back in the workshop. A mate did also suggest swapping out the router for the bigger model. Is it ok to do that and is it just a case of swapping them over or is there a bit more to it than that. I am a bit new to this but keen to learn.

It may need the drive settings altering slightly. Which motor is fitted at present? (red switch or silver toggle switch).

Hi martin, I have the silver toggled switch on my router. Looked at it last night and saw where the router plugs into the electrics. That might be the easy bit to swap over!

The silver toggle switch motor is the bigger motor. It should be 1 3/4 HP.

Got a photo of it here. Physicsally it doesnt look like a 1.5hp router and the plate on the contol box does say 0.6hp. It came from a school so I dont think it would have been upgraded as it was hardly ever used.

Just googled the model no to find out it is the 1.5hp model. Very pleased. That has made my day. I just assumed as it came with the 1/4 inch collet that it was the 0.5 hp model. So instead of spending 500 quid I will only have to spend 30 quid to get the half inch collet!
