Cyclone TU150-U start-up problems

Post by Tony » Wed 28 Apr , 2010 9:43 am

Would appreciate some help please, we have a CycloneTU-150-U, (serial no. 70724F), fitted with a desk-top tutor, which hasn't been used for a couple of years.
I would like to get it going again, but when switched on I get the following messages;

real time clock error
keyboard error
diskette error - press any key (needless to say I have tried this!)

Can anybody help me get this machine up and running again please?

Thanks for quick reply, however with the machine having a desk-top tutor fitted, which are the CRTL-ALT-S keys?

I think you may have to find an old keyboard (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/AT_keyboard) you can plug into the built in PC

Good morning
I have followed your previous instructions, connected a keyboard, and changed the date, time, and disk to 3 1/2".
I still get the message;

Diskette error - press any key

Pressing any key merely brings up the same error message over and over again. I have turned the machine off and on to see if it changes, to no avail.
Any other suggestions please?

It may be fitted with a hard disc drive. If so you may have to set it in Bios as well.

Ah well now, not as daft as you may think - praps its just me that's an idiot but this is all new to me!!!!!!
Have put a disc in and the program now loads, slowly getting there, thanks for your patience!
When I press the "Home" key the screen now says;

Machine Datum
X and Z keys to datum an axis
(Have tried pressing the keys but nothing happens)

I can load a program, edit it, and run simulate

We have a programming manual but no book on the machine set-up.

I think this manual will contain the kind of info you need at the moment:

Thanks for the manual, much appreciated.
However, have tried a number of times to HOME the machine to no avail, nothing happens at all, no error messages.
As I said earlier, I can load, edit and simulate a program, but cant get the machine datumed to get any further.

Is the door closed?

We have fitted different door closed switches over the years. We used to use a small switch mounted in the end of the cabinet above the headstock. They had a roller on that stuck through on the top left and was activated by sliding the door. If you have this type you can see the roller by looking down from above where the door slider mechanism is.If it is make sure the switch is free.

The second option is the Guarmaster switch. A large red unit on the top of the machine. This requires a dog locating in it that should be fastened to the door. These were sometimes removed by the opperator due to ease of use as the door locked whenever the spindle runs.

The machine has the large red switch on the top and this locks the door in position when the machine and air is switched on. Have had the top off it and the relay clicks in, but still unable to get the machine to HOME

What happens when you press the X button when in home mode? Does the display change?

Is there a "drives on / off" message on the display?

Can you post more details of the machine?
Was it ever part of a CIM sytem?

Customer is now up & running.

It was the Spindle motor overload breaker that needed to be reset.
The servo motors were not energised & none of the 3 LED's on the emergency stop relay were lit showing a fault on the 24volts or the E-Stop line.The spindle current overload is wiered in the E-Stop line.
