Alternate milling materials to balsa wood for Compact 1000

Post by Ahmad » Wed 13 Mar , 2013 11:17 am

Hi

what alternate materials similar to balsa wood can be used in the compact 1000. what operating speeds can be used and on what materials. i have looked at craft materials, but i am not sure what would be a cheaper alternate for milling F1 cars.

F1 cars have to be made of Balsa to compete but for proving designs foam could be used but may be just as expensive.

Where stepdown is the percentage of tool diameter:
eg stepdown 75 on a 6mm cutter means it will cut down 4.5mm in Z on each pass.
