Differences between Solidworks Educational versions
There is a certain amount of confusion between the different versions of Solidworks for education you can have.
Hopefully the attached .pdf document will make things clear !

My understanding is that if you have the F1 In Schools free design kit (which requires a team to be registered for this years F1 In Schools challenge) then:
1. You will receive a Student Design Kit (SDK) version that can be installed for any number of students. It is limited in functionality - it cannot output .STL for either manufacture, nor analyse the air flow of the model and the license will last for 1 year. It is simply for the students to create their designs with.
2. There will also be a single license of Student Edition with Cosmos included. This version will be able to export .STL for manufacture, and analyse air flow with CosmosFloWorks. In effect, this would be the teacher or technician version.
3. You will not have access to any of the Solidworks Educational resources / curriculum, apart from the ones related to F1 In Schools car design.

The alternative is to pay for the full blown 61 seat, Education Edition which will require an annual upgrade subscription, but is a tiny fraction of the real cost of the software, will never expire and will give access to a great deal more Solidworks educational resources.

Re: Differences between Solidworks Educational versions
I've been informed it is now a 150 day license, not 365 - sorry, I don't know why!
