some information I have suggests para 906 x1xx xxxx leaves x's as they are. No guarentee I ain't got an OT so be careful might be something different... might want to reset your controller so back up first including diagnostics and especially 900 series param's... don't come running to me when you b...

Yeah, work great, got one of each, but.... don't expect much from the controller - the technology is 20 years old (maybe more) If you get these machines they are well built but expect to refit the control system with something like Mach3. Unless yuou find a fanuc controlled triac, they're not too ba...

real servo motors are designed with a skew rotor. which makes them more suitable for exact position control but it doesn't preclude other dc motors from being used. It's a case of suck it and see, in this case it would seem to work, using geckos, the geckos will fault if the encoder reports back mor...

You could end up spending a lot of time and money on something that isn't that great anyway (small memory / slow / loosing position / 2D only contouring etc...)
you can tell he's not from sales

but yes I agree

I've got some memory chips http://www.denfordata.com/bb/viewtopic.php?t=443 but you need to sort out the coms before you stuff in extra memory. parameter 2 = 00000001 param 38=10100100 param 552=10 for 4800baud 11 for 9600 and here's a bit on comms http://www.cnczone.com/forums/archive/index.php/t-1...

I dunno if you can do this with your machines but we used to the following with the industrial stuff.. sellotape over the nozzle, mark the side facing you then fire a quick low level beam. That obviously zaps a hole in the sellotape. Take the nozzle off and check concentricity of the hole with a lou...

Hi Dave, I don't believe that a timing pulse is necessary to control the spindle speed while threading. In fact my Easiturn works fine threading with an index pulse. I've just done a quick calc, at 2000(ish) rpm and with 48 slots as the Orac has, that makes 1632 pulses/sec, I agree the parallel port...

Apparently the Transformer Box was thrown out when the building the machine was in was being re-furbished and someone thought it was part of the old building electrics Yeah, sounds believable, some of the muppets around these days  Maybe you could do the 3phase 70volts (or whatever the drive ...

OK, further developements on the VFD. I got to thinking that if if will work happily with 5volts applied it should work with the 10volts applied... It turns out that a mix of too much preload onthe spindle & too much grease was causing overload on the drive. Without the polyvee belt attached the mot...

Shouldn't that be 45V DC? High voltages are great for stepper motors, and the high current side is very useful when you want to upgrade Nah, I was talking about the power supply, & rectified as you probably know it squirts out (technical term that :) ) 63volts dc measures about 60 on my toy multime...

Probably the best solution is to buy a USB floppy drive which can then be used on any PCs now and in the future.
didn't they say that about 8inch floppy discs?

Sucess on a veroboard

What was the problem? Backlash enabled in Mach3. I swear that's how it came out of the box! I was checking the veroboard again for the umpteenth time and I noticed that I'd stuffed in the wrong resistors  (not very good at this am I?) I changed one on the direction line to see if it mad...

That doesn't sound like normal behaviour - I've never seen that problem with my SD2s. :? no it's certainly not normal :? mine are CD20's even older than yours :) Well thanks for your suggestions & steve - thats just what it sounded like, carrying on with the step pulses while changing direction. I'...
