Re: Cutting Accuracy

Martin/Steve as always know there stuff (no surprise :D ) Cleaning is important on these machines especially as a lot of the time in schools etc they are used with model foam, MDF and balsa, it get right in your nuts worse than a day at the beach! I'm not 100% on the compact but when I was machining...

Re: All the gear no idea

the numbers are actually letters. There is a list somewhere on the forum to 'decode' what it is saying, Took me ages to understand the 'numbers' it was flashing up at me once was E 5 t 0 P, or E Stop, meaning the emergence stop was pressed! Not sure is this is valid on the later boards but I think i...

Re: Compact 1000 pro E-stop and off on switch

If i remember correctly the limit switch links back to the control board directly, you just need to use a meter and check the continuity on each wire, You could 'prove' if the issue is the wire/switch by directly wiring a switch to the control board and manually operating it. II can't remember what ...

Re: Installing Denford Viceroy on wooden bearers

I dont know if i was clear on meaning a frame or my understanding of bearers, we prob both understand. I didnt realise the viceroy was a single unit under the bed. My tud has motor cabinet on the left and a storage on the right, so it is open between where you would stand and you can get your feet u...

Re: Installing Denford Viceroy on wooden bearers

I only have a Boxford Tud manual lathe. I found this as a school/student machine too low for me at 6' 3". I made some shuttering the size of each end of the lathe, drilled the concrete floor within the shuttering, fitted rawl plugs and used 150mm screws at 4" centres so I could level them (my floor ...

Re: VR Milling v5.69 released 23rd February 2020

HI, The guys at Denford do this as a sort of hobby so don't always come on, so the support is sort of unofficial and often by those of us who use the machines either at work or home. A couple of things, what happens if you open VR5: 1 DON'T connect to the machine and try file open. 2. DO connect to ...

Re: ATC (auto tool change) Gearbox info

Thanks Martin,
I thought that must have been the case, do you have the specs on the original pawl size when you are back in. Not that I'm going to be doing anything with it still for a while just if they are on here it would be great when I come to it.

Re: Microrouter Blown F3 Fuse/Emergency Stop Switch

That's interesting, I've not looked at one with the Z brake how is it activated/deactivated. is it only used when the machine is not cutting or is there G code to control it?

Re: ATC (auto tool change) Gearbox info

Thanks Martin, Hope you guys are doing ok there. On a slightly different point, I noticed on later ATCs they had 2 pawls, was there an issue with the earlier single pawl units wearing resulting in an inaccuracy/reliability in alignment on tool changes. I remember there was a member who had problems ...

Re: Microrouter Blown F3 Fuse/Emergency Stop Switch

If you have a look here http://www.denfordata.com/bb/viewforum.php?f=37 you should be able to find the correct diagrams for the machine. (you may have a pack of them inside the control panel, they used to put them in there). I would put a fuse in and see what happens, if it blows again then there is...

Re: ATC (auto tool change) Gearbox info

Hi, sorry no, I didn't do anything more with it. I became to frustrated with the DOS control and have decided I will convert to VR turning. I would be a lot further along with this BUT I decided (forced into due to rotten chassis) to rebuild my Landrover, do major work on the house, be thwarted with...

Re: Feed speeds displayed incorrectly.

Hi, so is it just a display issue and it is moving at the correct speed (matches the program) or is it moving at the displayed speed e.g. 39ipm Is this happening with all files? DO an 'air cut' but change that feed speed F0.875 to say F10 and see what it does. Have you tried any of the 'demo' FNC fi...

The forum was set up for them not us, they originally used it to keep a log of problems they faced so they could go back to it, it developed into this. They do it in their free time, not a paid position. When you think about it most people come on here wanting something for nothing (help/advise) rat...

Re: Tripping rcbo and coms issue

the speed controller for the porter cable (which is a universal motor AC/DC) is the Sprint board, this has a 0-10v input which gives a proportional 0-90v DC output I believe. If your machine has the Spindle and Feed control knobs on the case then you could wire that to control the 0-10v. The sprint ...

Re: Getting going with VR Milling

G code is effectively a text document so you can open it in a text editor and then do a 'save as' and put .fnc after the file name and it will work. Proper CNC operators can write the G code directly and not need a post processor (clever software that does that guys job) Now it all depends an if you...
