Dust extraction
Could you tell me the extraction requirements for the microrouter when machining MDF. There are so many different machines out there. What flow rate and filtration level should it have for the School environment. I have tried to find the specs of the one available for the current machines on the web...

Re: g code generator
it sounds like those machines can't find the licence code (if that is what the info means). Is it possible the IT guys have rolled out new system images to the PC's? We go through hell each year when they do that and need them to come and add everything specific to the D&T dept PC's again.

Re: Easiturn RS232
From my experiences regardless of drawings it is worth trying the tx/rx pins both ways round. So that should be pin 2 and 3 swapped. You never know if a previous owner had swaped them in the machine as the lead they had was moulded and wired the other way if that makes scense. Doesn't hurt to try it...

Need more info on the size of the microrouter 5 pro NS
I know there is a drawing in one of the manuals which gives a simple isometric type view then W x D x H info. could you post up an end shot showing where the 'skids' are measured from the front also the width and height of them, the vertical front panel height to the angled section. The angle of the...

Re: G code errors
Bit of an update. There was a meeting on after work so I could stop past 6pm, Ran chuck3 file via the old laptop again and the door was fine up until about line 6000. Then the door solenoid was firing open n shut almost all the time. Aborted the run and ran Chuck4 (the raster only program) The door ...

Re: G code errors
Ahh ok I see how the raster part works now. Ive attached 3 pics of the boards in the back of the machine listed above. (I had to rotate them as the site prefers portrait to landscape) These were all taken while a program was running, The 7 seg display would swap between displaying P and 8. The door ...

Re: G code errors
I did a raster rough then a raster finishing program. I did notice that the raster finishing in this version doesn't give the option of machine in X, Y or X & Y but only in X so the quality of finish is not going to be as good as i used to be able to get if I have to use this format. Ran the program...

Re: G code errors
OK lots of tests done. 1st thing. I have used both the micromills successfully to produce 3D models in foam and MDF from day one (back in 2001). I am well aware of the slow speed (about 1hr per job), they are all we have so have to live with it. Yes I would love something faster but that is the long...

Re: G code errors
the version of VR5 was not the most current, ill come back to this... I dropped the latest version of VR2 on and this would let me run the files I produced with QuickCAM Pro (in 3d simulation). the earlier version hung at any G17, G18 or G19 command with an error code. VR5 will run through the files...

did a simple design of a keyless chuck for a cordless/ screwdriver ahead of a project I am running this Friday. Had it running from 4pm to 8pm last night at an open evening. The chuck was to be machined facing upwards. I normally use raster x-y for work but last night I though I would try some of th...

Re: Software required for denford mini mill and lathe?
You will need to get the info off the label on the units or better still open the back cover up and pics of the control boards and the eprom. 32pin chip with a label on it with something like ver 2.02 printed on it.

Re: Mirac And no software
Brilliant, glad you got up and running, I seem to remember the old bios batteries were a form of rechargeable that leaked when they got old. My 1st pc was a 286 8mhz, I remember joking we would be able to tune into them with radio test gear if they got much faster! I'm going to look at adding a grav...

Re: control software v machine eprom version
Cheers Martin, that's just the info I needed. I was sure I had seen something like that somewhere on here, but doubted myself when all I could find was the list about which versions of software would run on Win 7 (I can sort out a PC to run any version of windows it was just the DOS control issue). ...

Re: control software v machine eprom version
Just to clarify I am looking into these for work (school) I do have some kit at home but keep both well apart I have the software and licensing for both vr2 and vr5 in work so no issue there. I was just worried the microrouter with the external control box may be a DOS system like my personal startu...

Im after some info about the microrouter I have been made aware of a couple of microrouters that are on the market I would like them for work. one is circa 2003 microrouter pro with a label that says vr2.19 The other I presume is older as it has an external control box, this one also has a vacuum be...

Re: Issues with STl file from Inventor into Quick CaM Pro
Cheers Steve I did see something about mm and CM, that was a thought I had had so I did try exporting both with the same result. I will run through it again tomorrow, I must have missed something. When I ran through the steps I selected the cut plane to be half height so I don't understand why that ...

Issues with STl file from Inventor into Quick CaM Pro
Hi, I drew up a bottle in Inventor (set it to Metric mm and BSI standard first) exported as a binary STL as attached. When I opened it in Quickcam pro it says it was drawn in imperial and not metric asking me if this was correct. I click no and it imports it 1/10 of its original size (40mm = 4mm) I ...
