at the top of the case to the right, do you have two large relays and a smaller one to the left.

Re: Upgrading A Triac Spindle Drive
are you looking to keep the existing 4000rpm top speed, as an easy way to get more power would be to increase the pulley reduction to the spindle.

Re: Triac ball screw pitch
One example on my triac, as i traversed the x axis the y axis would add steps randomly. This didn't happen when i first converted the triac, but appeared after a few days use.
Needless to say the caps cured the fault.

Re: Triac ball screw pitch
I found that the e-stop would trigger randomly Do you think that a very short emergency stop signal, triggered by noise, is the cause of steps being inhibited then ? (or even the direction signal being switched off) I agree noise could well cause such issues - We once had a spindle drive wiring iss...

Re: Triac ball screw pitch
on my machine, the caps are used to stop interference on the INPUTS rather than the step outputs. I have placed the caps on the x y and z home connections and the e-stop connection. I found that the e-stop would trigger randomly and the axis would trigger also, but with the caps fitted this stopped....

Re: Triac ball screw pitch
add 100nf caps on all inputs, i had problems with added and lost steps before adding them.
I use the same transistor buffers and have had no problems since adding the caps.

Re: Socket pinout and sensor voltage
i think the home sensors are 12v (correct me if i'm wrong), and if you trace back either side from the socket you'll see what the cables connect to. The cables are colour coded so you'll see where they're going. If you need any help i can help identify wires over the phone.

have you thought of a set of blacksmiths drills, they go up to good size and have a 3/8" or 1/2" shaft.

here you go, the first is the analogue board
lol, looking at the pic of the analogue board i can see R19 is a resistor.

Re: Novamill, first time in cnc.
datum switches are sorted and the emergency stop. :D Just got the spindle to do now. is there a diagram of the spindle board and analogue board, i'm hoping that there is a digital signal into the analogue board and that drives the spindle board. analogue board is - R19 32dbz spindle board has no det...

Re: Novamill, first time in cnc.
yes, that's sort of what i meant. :) , my lack of terminology is showing. They feel like microswitches and by the look of it they are nc to ground, switching to open circuit on activation. My job for today is to wire them up and successfully home the machine. It looks like 58 is the common gr...

Re: Novamill, first time in cnc.
Well a few days later and with the great info supplied by you guys, i have mach 3 controlling my novamill, many thanks. For the princely sum of £13.80 (breakout board), and a few connectors salvaged from an old photocopier (a good source for steppers), i have control. There were a few hiccups along ...

Re: Baldor Nextstep Step and Direction pins - 96way connector
well could that have been any easier, mega thanks guys. I wired in a breakout board to the correct pins using some multiway sockets from a salvaged photocopier (which is a good source for steppers). After a few odd reactions, no y axis, y on the z axis and only one direction. I looked at the mach 3 ...
