Hi, There will be a "Axis Limit Switch Overide" button on the right hand side of the control panel housing. If you press & hold in the button it will overide the Axis Limit Switches & allow you to drive the axis clear using the control. I sugest you move slides to the centre & then release the button.

If you open the back door to the electrics the card the bottom card on the left hand side has 2 red led`s that stand just behind the terminal block towards the centre. If you power the machine up & manually turn the spindle they should turn on/off. If you rotate the spindle to where it picks up it`s...

The auto z only raises the bed or drops the bed to where it thinks the focus point should be. It is best to home the Z axis each time you power up the laser cutter. The VLS 2.3/3.5 model needs to be told to home manually. It may be worth installing the fume extraction alarms in which is a option to ...

I meant the feedrate overide pot. Try running at less that 100%. The X axis drive card is the on the left towards the Euro card & the Z is on the right. The slides & stepper motors interact quite strangely. If the slide is too loose or tight then the stepper motor can stall or miss moves. I find tha...

It looks as if the axis is stalling. If it`s mounted in the same orientation as youre photo then it must be the Y axis. You will need to check for backlash & movement with a DTI. The normal way to cure it stalling is to tighten up the Gib strip slightly to allow for wear. It may be easier to drop th...

1. What is the feedrate overide set to? Try running at 100% or less.

2. It may be that the slides are slack. Try adjusting the gib strips.

3. What version of Eprom is fitted to the euro card? Should be ver 2.1.

The "L" on the seven segment LED display is correct. When the software is up & running it should read as a "8" with the E-stop button. This means the control is powered up & initalised. The monitor is a standard SVGA monitor so you can easily unplug the 15 way heigh density plug from the computer br...

I guess that you need to look at the Mains voltage coming in to the machine & work from there. Is it possible that the input voltage is low. Without looking at the electrical drawings it does sound strange that the transformer iw wired accross the 20 & 420 tappings. From memmory the control transfor...

On the control panel you need to enable(click) on the Turbo button. The software will then look for moves that can cached together. This will not effect programs when the direction of travel is change because the drives have to have a slight dwell before they can be pulsed.

Hi David,

It does sound like the PC may be faulty. Have you tried re-seating it? (Pull it out of the rack & then insert back in). The "esc" key is the one on the qwerty keyboard now you have if fitted.

It`s looking like the 48volt PSU may be faulty.

1. Remove the back cover.
2. Remove the laser cartridge.
3. Remove the cover plate situated below where the cartridge was sat.
4. Check the 48 volt DC power supply unit.

Have you checked that you are getting the power to the machine? The CPU obtains it`s power through the USB lead but the drives, fans & tube power up via the 240 volts mains. There is a drawer with two fuses in directly below where the kettle plug is connected. If both fuses are OK & there is power to...

It may be worth looking at computer power supply. The DSP computer will reboot if the 5 volts drops to below 4.65 volts. The easiest way to measure it is to connect a multimeter to the power plug goining to the floppy discs drive. There are only two wires there & you need to be on DC volts. If it is...

As far as I know the battery is not required on the Eurostep card.

I often service the machines with these cards in but have never needed to replace the battery.
