Triac Z axis counter-balance
Below are a few pictures of the counter balance i have made for my Triac. This is to ease / equal the load on the z axis stepper and ballscrew, thus reducing the chances of the stepper stalling when moving in the Z + direction. The counter-balance weight is 20kg. This is an estimated weight of the h...

Weight of Triac head and motor?
Just wondered if anyone knows the combined weight of the triac head and motor? I am just looking at making a counter-balance to lessen the chances of the z axis stalling. I could work out/ take an educated guess at the weight, but if someone already knows it would make things a bit easier. thanks, a...

Triac tape drive
I have a Philips audio tape drive, speakers and wiring loom For sale.
In 'as new' condition, which i removed from my '86 Triac
If anyone is after this kind of thing make me an offer, whatever you think its worth. If nobody wants it it will probably be binned!

I mostly load programmes into the memory on my triac, but do drip feed small ones occasionally. However I remember reading somehere (on this forum?) that the Industrial text editor is limited to the size of programmes it can transmit succsesfullly. So two questions/ideas. 1. Are you using the Ind tx...

Hi David, I had similar problem a while back. Powered up ok, but switch the drives on and bang!. I went through a whole pack of 5 amp fuses. Then tried a 10 year old? fuse from an old plug and hey presto. Couldn't work this one out but someone told me modern fuses blow right on or below the ampage l...

Hi, Missed this one earlier  Mine also gets quite warm, so not uncommon, I think Clarke has it about right. The Bearings are quite close together on the Triac, so there is a fair bit of preload to keep everything running true. Make sure the bearings are well greased, but be careful not to over...

Matt, 1000 mm/min is the rapid speed (G00), not feedrate! I have investigated the Gib adjustment and this seems fine. I wrote a little programme just moving the z up and down in rapid to try and observe whats happening. I notice when it starts to move in the Z+ direction there is a little 'knock' so...

Will Have a look at the Gib tonight, although I think this should be ok as I checked everything when I got the Machine in March. I don't think its a Lubrication problem as there is plenty of oil getting to the slide and ballscrew. With regard to only having problems recently, I have only recently be...

Triac loosing Z datum
A small problem sometimes occurs with my '86 Triac in that it looses its Z datum occasionally this happened once last Friday whilst milling some slots and twice yesterday whilst drilling and profiling. What appears to happen is when it moves in the + direction away from the job it looses its zero, s...
