Re: Cyclone TU150E

Getting a suitable 3 phase transformer would be the easiest option. If you do want to change the voltage, then you'll need to reconfigure all the motors for 240V (turret, coolant, and spindle + cooling fan), adjust the motor current overloads, you may need a new VFD unless you can configure it to ru...

Re: novamill atc retrofit

I can't help with the exact pins, however the big connector is a reasonably common Harting modular connector, which are still available, so it's just a case of identifying the correct pins/inserts. Regarding editing the mint files, it does look possible to alter the tool change process, however I've...

Re: Servo motor / parameters TU150 U

I wouldn't worry too much about discussing other software, as there are posts by staff members suggesting it as an option for older machines. I have briefly tried LinuxCNC, however I found support for doing anything less common to be very hit and miss. I considered using it along with Mesa cards a f...

Just wondering if you've made any more progress with this?

Re: Servo motor / parameters TU150 U

Mach3 works, however I am looking to move over to KMotionCNC, as Mach3 isn't quite as bulletproof as I'd like.
Having said that, it's not given me any hassle for a while now, but I'm sure it'll do something unexpected now I've said that!

Re: Servo motor / parameters TU150 U

If you're replacing the servo and drive, then most modern drives that have an encoder out option will allow you to scale the output, so the controller sees a reduced encoder count. I'd try contacting Zapp Automation, as Gary there really knows his stuff and is very helpful (I'm hoping this recommend...

Re: novamill atc retrofit

KFlop & KStep are made by Dynomotion, and give you the option of using Dynomotion's KMotionCNC software, Mach3, or even writing your own program. Just done a bit searching, and to modify the mint files, you need to use Mint Workbench - http://www.denfordata.com/bb/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=2488 If you've ...

Re: novamill atc retrofit

I do like VR Milling 5, especially it's nice simulation machines :-) However if it ever dies, Mach or EMC won't be on the replacement candidate list (A KFlop+KStep combo would be top of my list - I have a little CMM/Probing machine that runs on that combo, and it works well but I still need to rely ...

Re: novamill atc retrofit

Thanks Steve. Just compared that to the dimensions that google images is throwing up, and it seems that's more commonly called a 60 degree, as the diagrams show that angle being measured from parallel with the stud body, instead of at 90deg to the stud like that diagram (got to love non-standard sta...

Re: novamill atc retrofit

Moray, That's correct, and yes its not bad value but I have no problem machining and hardening one myself so its a tad redundant. I made one from en24, just need to get a few minutes peace to drill the 5 holes on the circumference, then harden. As for pullstuds, Well spotted my good sir. I thought ...

Re: novamill atc retrofit

Excellent topic. I never realised the actual spindle was the same between non-atc and atc machines, so this should be a reasonably easy upgrade. Jonny, am I correct in assuming by Drawbar collet, you mean the part (TR20/109 or VMC/0106) the balls go in and grips the holder? Out of all the parts need...

Spindle motor details/dimensions?

Would anybody happen to have accurate dimensions for the spindle drive motor?
Either that or the motor details so I can try googling for a datasheet/dimensions.

I'm toying with the idea of giving mine a bit more power, but I'd like to know how much space there is prior to dismantling things.

Re: Adding Coolant output to Novamill with V5 Milling

Just to update this, I figured it out. Activating the codes in the machine settings, simply adds the M8/9 codes to the M-code menu in VR Milling Control Panel. Using the Debug Machine I/O, I could see the output being triggered when the coolant button was clicked, with the value 4, which after some ...

Adding Coolant output to Novamill with V5 Milling

I've got a Novamill that has been upgraded to V5, and I'd like to activate/add a coolant output for triggering an air blow/ misting system. I've had a quick look through the various settings, and see I can activate the M8/9 codes in the settings. However, is that all I need to do software wise? How ...

Tee Nut size?

Can anybody confirm what size of Tee nuts I need for a Novamill?

I've just agreed to buy one, and would like to get some ordered ready for it arriving.
The manual I've found says the tee slots are 10mm, so would just like to confirm that means the gap is 10mm with the wide part being aprox. 15mm.
