Re: TU150U in need of TLC

Well its looking like a duff Mint card, as soon as the machine becomes ready the mint sends out a voltage on the analogue and off it sets at rapid in X and at creep in Z.

Anybody have an old Mint card they don't want?

If not Mach4 here we come!

Thanks

Re: TU150U in need of TLC

Pete,

as soon as the control screen was displayed the x axis set off and hit the end stop toward the home position, the z was also creeping toward the chuck away from home.

Martin, Thank you I will give it a go but they look almost the same as what is in it at the moment.

Re: TU150U in need of TLC

Hi All I am back again. Things have moved on a bit, I downloaded the files Martin suggested and created a DOS boot disk with it all on and it powered up and the X axis shot to the max and jammed there with a jolt, the z crept forward toward the chuck. Estop put a stop to its fun. My question, is thi...

Re: TU150U in need of TLC

Hi again,

I have had time to play a bit with the machine and here is a picture of the electrical box.

Can someone give me any idea which software I needs and if there is a wiring diagram for this machine.

Thanks

There should be a software version on the side of the electrical box.

Re: Spindle motor upgrade

I would think the rest of the machine is the limiting factor, using carbide on low power motors is fine just do lots of fast RPM small cuts. 25mm dia mild steel bar will run at 3000 rpm and cut at 0.25 depth of cut at 0.4mm per rev using high rake inserts no problem at all, the only problem is not g...

Re: Denford Triac Spindle Motor

for a 0.8mm end mill you need 20,000+ RPM and that on the Triac spindle bearings is a no go they get very hot at 6000 so I would plug for a second spindle attached to a mounting off the side of the head.

Re: Starmill PC Upgrade Advice and Help

Be very careful replacing the X axis motor as it gets within about 10mm of the cabinet so a longer motor will hit it or you can set the soft limits of Mach3 or what ever you are converting to to reduce the travel.

The spindle will be a standard R8 type.

Re: Spindle will not re-start after toolchange

Thanks for the reply.

I checked that and it seems fine, I also put more oil in the little ball valve lube point but that made no difference.

I can hear a small relay click in the back but not the big one that normally sounds.

Any more ideas anybody?

Thanks

Spindle will not re-start after toolchange

Hi All, I have owned a Mirac for many years and it has been working fine until now. My machine is the LCB3 type with the single inverter for spindle and toolchanger. After a tool change the spindle will not re-start, then after what seems like 2 minutes it starts running, the problem seems random as...

Re: Triac spindle stalled, now won't start!

If you change to a 12mm carbide slot drill you can run that at 100m/min (2650 rpm) to 150m/min (5300 rpm) in steel with a 1.5mm depth of cut and all should be good, it works for me nicely at 3000 rpm and .05/tooth to .15 per tooth per rev depending on the flute form. I have had lots of success with ...

Re: Comments in Mirac DOS G-code

I think I have the answer:-

It looks like you have to have the comment at the start of the line so :-

N1 T0101 M8 (ROUGHING TOOL)
G00 X25. Z.25

is not valid but

N1 T0101 M8
(ROUGHING TOOL)
G00 X25. Z.25

works just fine.

Comments in Mirac DOS G-code

I am using a Mirac with DOS 2.25 software and I do not seem to be able to put comments into the g-code. I have tried the usual ways (abc), (abc and ;abc :( :? I just get junk and it looks like the parser tries to make g-code from the text. Am I trying to do something that is not valid on this versio...
