information on Quickturn and early novaturn please

Hi, I wrote a while back with a view to possibly purchasing quickturn 2D for use with my non-upgraded novaturn, to generate g-code to put into flstep that is actually controlling the machine. I haven't really used it since buying it about 1.5 years ago, in fact only making one part with it, but at t...

Re: was a tailstock ever made for the novaturn ? want a used one

Thanks for the info, but I was only using quickturn in demo mode so have given up trying to use it, so have been using it manually, hence the tailstock question. I had to make a part that required a large hole in it, but it seems there is no collet for the large drills that came with it, so in order...

Re: was a tailstock ever made for the novaturn ? want a used one

Thanks for the more detailed explanation. So it is basically for holding a centre and nothing else then. I was wondering how longer parts were made and just thought it was only designed to make short parts which is o.k. for me, but since I haven't found an easy way to use the machine yet, I will hav...

Re: was a tailstock ever made for the novaturn ? want a used one

Thanks for writing back. I wanted one because since I don't know enough to use the machine in a full cnc controlled mode, so I have been using it manually, and thought it would be great for drilling and I thought I could maybe get a boring head for it and complete boring with it. If I did ever get o...

Sort of technical help with a novaturn from my first use

Hi, I have recently had my first go at making an item using actual software, using lathecam designer, and flstep which was successful (the item was very simple) !! Anyway, as I had tried the mill some time ago and wondered if it could be used manually to make the odd part, I have realised that this ...

Re: help with using lathercam designer please

Thank you for the help, and your apologies accepted; it's appreciated.

I didn't know you had written your last post when I replied asking (again, sorry) about making it work, so I fully understand now. I will ring Denford next week to find out about those products.

Thanks again.

Re: help with using lathercam designer please

Perhaps someone else could help then, as I had already installed it and it is not working. I think site admin said I might be able to contact Denford and purchase the quickcam2d and 3d together. presumably so I could get the 3d bit to work, I guess to save the expense of buying the presumably more e...

Re: help with using lathercam designer please

I am surprised to here you work for Denford, as I would have thought you would need more manners than you seem to display. Your comment about not being able to read the whole thread is a very important one. Why comment on the last part of a conversation when you do not know all the facts ? For some ...

Re: help with using lathercam designer please

Nice ! I was considering being a paying customer, and have been writing here for a few days to get help in trying the software out before purchasing, and if you read the thread completely you would have known this. I hope you don't work for Denford because if this is the sort of customer service you...

Perhaps you should learn to read properly, and the WHOLE THREAD.

Re: help with using lathercam designer please

Hi,

I downloaded quickcam 3d, but that will not load at all; After I get to the upgrade screen (like in quickcam 2d), and clicking cancel, which in quickcam 2d makes it then load and run, the screen only screen flashes and then nothing happens ? Any ideas ?

Thanks.

Re: help with using lathercam designer please

Hi, I found out the problem; I wasn't understanding what the wizard was for (please understand I am new to all this :-), and didn't realise that it has to have a profile on the billet first, and as soon as I made a shape on it it worked. It looks much better than the lathecam, so I was wondering if ...
