Re: wire 21 on SRR??
According to the list of wire numbers I've made up, 21 is one of the spindle motor power wires. 20 being the other power wire.

Re: Help VMC TRIAC
Hi, I have faulty baldor D281 motion control card for a triac P. C. (denford). The firmware is ESMINT 3.28 V1.6H/S - JD5. We would like to purchase this card, is it still available? Please let me know as soon as possible, I need it urgently for students' semester projects. Thank you. David, If you'...

Triac VMC control rack/computer/screen available
As per title, all from a 1994 Triac VMC. Tested as far as the computer boots past bios, but hangs with a disk not found error (probably correct, as I've got no discs, but I never heard the floppy drive attempt to read anything). The rack and computer (386 processor) have now been removed and are sit...

Axis Drive Transformer Spec?
Does anybody know the specification for the axis drive transformer fitted to a 94 Triac VMC?
I'm trying to find out if it'll be good enough to power new stepper drives, and how the secondary's are configured i.e. can I parallel/link the two 44V outputs.

Re: Replacing X and Y axis switch wiring?
The cable has been replaced! Dealing with the cable ties buried in the base casting, and through the rear access panel was the hardest part. Took me a couple hours, some blood, and wishing for a couple extra bends in my fingers, but got there in the end. I just need to wait for the new homing sensor...

Re: Replacing X and Y axis switch wiring?
So this doesn't look quite as bad as I initially thought - https://c3.staticflickr.com/6/5676/30154082410_7b34ea4a08.jpg RH block removed, unbolt the Motor & LH block, slide the table to the right (it won't come of as it hits the enclosure), and the cable routing is revealed. I thought it went down ...

Re: Replacing X and Y axis switch wiring?
Thanks for that. I had another look tonight, and I'm currently thinking if I remove the table and saddle/cross slide, there might be enough room to get in and change the cable. I'm currently looking at the parts diagram to get an idea of what needs to be removed to separate things. At the moment, it...

Replacing X and Y axis switch wiring?
Does anybody know how much of the machine needs dismantled in order to fit a new cable to the X and Y axis switches? I'm currently retrofitting a Triac VMC, and I'd like to swap the standard NAMUR/2 wire sensors to 3 wire sensors, however the existing wiring is a wire short. I've got the covers/bell...

Re: Tools crashed into chuck GGRRRR
Depending on how hard it crashed, you'll most likely need to realign the turret on the slide plate, and possibly the spindle.
You'll then need to adjust all the tool offsets to suit, as it's highly unlikely you'll get the spindle and turret back in the exact position relative to each other.

Re: TU150U spares
Out of curiosity, do the servo motors have a spec (torque/voltage/current/wattage) on them? Also, was there any gearing between the servo and ball screw? I opted for a 400W (1.27Nm cont with a 10:16 belt ratio) and 700W (2.4Nm Cont with a 1:1 ratio) when I retrofitted my Cyclone, and am just wonderi...

Re: TU150U wiring schematic?
I can't really tell you how it compares, as the first thing I done was rip out the original controller and steppers, and replace them with a KFlop+Kanalog, along with new servos and drives. Have a look at http://www.uk-cnc.com/forum/build-logs/denford-cyclone-retrofit/ I've just updated it with a bi...

I've got a copy, that I was sure I downloaded from here, but I can't find where.
The zipfile name is "TU150 1993"
If you want to PM me your email, I can email you a copy across.

Re: Bringing my Novamill back to life
You're spindle controller input must be at low voltage, which certainly isn't that common. As long as everything works how it should, I wouldn't worry about the gnd/0v connection. I'd have to go and look at the wiring diagrams, but I'm aware that original wiring has all the Earth/GNDs separate from ...

Re: Bringing my Novamill back to life
Try measuring the voltage between the earth and 0V with the machine powered up.
Chances are there will be components linking the two, which can affect resistance measurements, and the only real test is with it powered up.
Also try measuring between Earth and the 0-10V input to the Sprint board.

Re: Bringing my Novamill back to life
I've just had a look at the wiring on Alistair's photos, and noticed he has the spindle control voltage tied to the 'gnd' input on the BOB. Now, either he has a different spindle control that doesn't have the control terminals at high voltage (unlikely as nearly all common SCR type spindle drives do...

Re: Bringing my Novamill back to life
Sounds like the 12V supply you tried, isn't insulated, or you're wiring it in so it's connected to gnd/0V at some point. The supply to the 0-10V should have no connection to anything else, as it will be at high voltage relative to all the other control voltages. The usual way to provide a suitable f...

Re: Bringing my Novamill back to life
Are you using an isolated supply for the 0-10v?
The type of speed controller used, the control voltage is at mains voltage, so if you don't use an isolated supply, you're essentially connecting a live wire to ground.

Re: novamill atc retrofit
It's probably a case of telling VR initially, but some of the controllers do store certain variables in EEPROM, as I know my Novamill stores the last tool number between power ups. Having just checked the carousel assembly diagram, it looks like the ATC In/Out are just standard roller arm microswitc...

Re: novamill atc retrofit
Just had a quick scan through the wiring diagrams, and it looks like the ATC In and Out switches need to be normally open, as they're simply switching TB9 Inputs 3 & 4 to GND when activated, with the carousel being a changeover switch, switching TB9 input 7 between GND and 5V however there's nothing...

Re: novamill atc retrofit
Have you got the carousel assembly drawing? Should be RM6_700? It shows the Geneva mechanism, but although it doesn't have any measurements as such, you should be scale it to get rough measurements. That's the only drawing I've got of anything to do with the carousel, and I keep hoping to find someb...
