Re: Spindle speed incorrect.
I've managed to fix it. In the file FLSTEP.OPT is a line "highspindle 5000" this sets the maximum speed that can be selected from the keypad. When this speed is selected the maximum control voltage of 10V is sent to the VFD. The VFD has a parameter o2 which sets the frequency the VFD outputs when it...

Re: Spindle speed incorrect.
I've used the pot on the custom card to set the min speed at 100 RPM, but if I call for the max speed of 3800 RPM only 3000 RPM is achieved.
Is there a pot for max speed or will I have to reprogram the VFD?
Thanks, Max.

Re: Spindle speed incorrect.
Pete. I found a manual for the Combivert VFD online. I can confirm that it's controlled by an analogue voltage which is presented to terminals 17 and 18. This voltage varies depending on the speed selected. Martin. Picture of control card attached. I believe it's a Baldor Eurostep? The only pot fitt...

Spindle speed incorrect.
I have a problem with spindle speeds on my recently acquired Mirac. If I select a spindle speed of say 1000 rpm, the spindle actually rotates at about 800 rpm (it wavers a bit) as indicated by the On Screen Display and an independent test tachometer using a reflective sensor checking the spindle spe...

Re: MIRAC. ERROR 128.
SUCCESS!! I M A HAPPY MAN!! The problem was down to the way I was trying to run the software. What I had to do in the end was this:- Create an MS-DOS Start up disc using a Windows XP PC. It's an option in the format menu. Delete all the files from the disc with the exception of IO.SYS, MSDOS.SYS and...

Re: MIRAC. ERROR 128.
EPROM is labeled "MINT 3.28 V1.6G B1/S-JD3". I'm beginning to wonder whether the problem is down to the way I'm running the software. Copying all the Mirac or Flstep files to a floppy disc does not make it a bootable system disc. I created an MS-DOS start up disc using a PC running Windows XP. It's ...

I've just discovered the MInt Manager utility. I'll see if I can talk to the Eurocard using that.

Re: MIRAC. ERROR 128.
No put down intended Pete. I'm sorry if it came across that way. Regarding experience, I have a good theoretical and practical knowledge of electronics. I know how PC's dating from the 1990's are put together. Not so good on software. Alas I had no joy with the Flstep software along with the .go and...

Re: MIRAC. ERROR 128.
Thanks Martin. I'm amazed that Denford still have info on such an old machine. I'll give the settings and flstep a try. If it doesn't work at least I'll know I'm looking at a hardware problem. Pete. At work more than 30 years ago we used to say that a V24 interface was so called because it took 24 h...

Re: MIRAC. ERROR 128.
Thanks for your reply. I read through a number of error 128 posts before starting this new thread. The reason two com ports are installed by my .go file is that one was used for a serial printer. This is no longer connected, so I suppose I could edit the .go file to only install the com port for the...

MIRAC. ERROR 128.
I have a Mirac, not the PC version, which has never worked whilst in my possession. At switch on the built in PC's BIOS shows that there are three com ports, which is correct. If I run the Mirac DOS software, as downloaded from this site, it aborts with error 128 after installing or perhaps attempti...

VR Milling 5. Software versions.
I've noticed that the last version of VR Milling 5 to be formally announced in this section is V5.61.
The version available from the download page is V5.66.
Is there a statement available showing the changes in the latest build?
Thanks.

Re: Arc converted to straight lines.
Sorry to disappoint you Pete, but the problem is still there in version 5.64.
It shouldn't be too difficult to write G Code to cut a 500mm dia semicircle. Just a G1 for the straight diameter cut and a G2 specifying the end point and arc radius for the semi-circular arc.

Re: Problem drilling holes.
I was running V5.63, but have now upgraded to V5.64. I can confirm that the problem is fixed in both builds. I probably hadn't noticed as I've been converting all DWG files to metric dimensions before importing them so as to avoid the problem. Many thanks. It would appear that no new version announc...

Re: Arc converted to straight lines.
I started this thread more than two years ago. At that time I naively thought that as I'd bought a licence for VR Milling 5 it would be a properly supported product. This clearly isn't the case and this isn't the only problem I've raised which hasn't been fixed. There's been no new software release ...

Brown Pestell VFD.
Is there anyone here who has a Brown Pestell VFD and would be able to check the value or colour code of resistor R66 for me. It's located next to IC7.
I'm repairing one of these units where R66 has gone very high in value and the colour code is indistinct.
Thanks, Max.

I notice that Version 5.63 has appeared on the download page. I've downloaded it and it runs OK.
What problems are addressed by this version?
Thanks.
