Does your machine have only one inverter to run both spindle and tool changer. If so, the problem may possibly be the changeover switch that sends the inverter output to either the tool changer motor or the spindle motor. I don't know the correct torque to clamp it up to, you just get a good feel for it after a while. Needless to say there can't be any play in the spindle, and vice versa it can't be too tight. The most important thing is to get everything clean before you fit the bearings, and make sure they're fitte...

you have to set the right amount of preload onto the bearings so a fair bit of tightening is required

i think the ends are crimped on if so no chance, but the item is replaceable for around £15 upwards.

hold on that repair/replace, i had an air chuck on my easiturn and i'm pretty sure there was an interlock that prevented the chuck from activating when the jaws were open.

the inverter is on the back of the pillar on some models, but i guess it would be in the cabinet on a fanuc model.

i run the full head as the z axis with 500mm of travel and had no issues at all with vibration or tool life.

when you design a carousel tool changer be aware of the need for swarf clearance and coolant issues, as swarf will end up in the mechanism at some point.

the cyclone usually has a 3hp spindle motor, and as stated before is less substantial than the zeroturn.

the guard is the front cover and the guard switch/solenoid is the red lock on the right hand side of the case

look at the part number on the other piston and that will give you the mounting thread and rod end thread you need. It's a pretty standard item so it shouldn't be hard to find.
