Re: 2D Design V:1.26
The reason I suggested changing the ATC auto=0 is because in VRmilling when you have a call for a tool change the machine stops and flags up on the screen to change the tool. I don't have any ATC machines in work so am used to it doing this. I wondered if denford had not included a default setting t...

Re: 2D Design V:1.26
Have you had a go at just editing the .mml file? It is just a text document so you can open them up in wordpad or notepad, edit and save. In Quickturn 2D when you go to save/load a machine file it lists the full names. just search in file explorer for the location, Try to change the tool changer 'Au...

Re: Arc converted to straight lines.
On another thought. I might try installing Deskproto again, I used to use it with an Old Rolland CAMM3 PNC3000. Ill give it a wiz and see if I set up the machine parameters to produce a G code file. I have done it in the past for the old micromills we used to have. If that works I'll use that as a p...

Re: Arc converted to straight lines.
Max you might as well have been talking about designer hand bags :? or football results to me! I know it can't be that hard but I have to be able to just load a file and get the code with the kids. I can't be going in, finding the required section and altering it for every part and piece of all the ...

Re: Novaturn software V1.45
Now I'm working the other way, I know computers quite well (from the late 80's) although feel I'm getting out of my depth with modern incarnations. I would love to be able to just write G code myself although I do love to be able to just CAD what I want and then tell the machine to work it out for m...

Re: Arc converted to straight lines.
Ohh please post up your results.
I'm not changing now as I need to focus on getting the exam work done and preparing for the revised GCSE to start teaching in Sept (the spec only got ratified a few weeks ago and is massively different). If it works i'll move on to it too.
Many thanks
Pete

Re: Novaturn software V1.45
I think what Steve is saying is you need to run the program in admin mode, this is nothing to do with the denford program as such but a windows instruction, you can do this with any program you install on windows. In normal mode windows will impose some restrictions to stop users/programs modifying ...

Do Not PAT test... Why?
Hi, could someone give me some justification as to why the Mircorouter Pro circa 2004ish has a label stating do not PAT test? I need to know for the school (there is no ID plate with the usual info anywhere on the machine and I know where the machine came from).
Cheers

Re: Arc converted to straight lines.
Bumping this as a problem again, BIG problem. I'm now running a Microrouter PRO so have the ability to machine much larger items in school. I have 2 GCSE exam students produce designs which require large arcs. One is a round table top, shelf and base, each part has been machined in 2 halves giving a...

Re: Triack PC Homing problem after NextMove controller Upgra
just to confirm there isn't an issue with the home switches, manually move each axis to a position a distance away from the switches and try to home each in turn. You could also try the 'hidden or secret' home. I've never used it but believe you need to click between the home buttons (best to search...

Re: Novaturn software V1.45
I only have experience really of VR Milling, Never had a problem with the older V2 and V5 being installed on the same system (other than they both need different licence files VR2 not transferable to VR5). My Lathe is a Starturn 5 and that's DOS based control!! I would love to get it upgraded on the...

Re: Novaturn software V1.45
There is a later version of VR available to download (1.47 http://www.denfordata.com/downloads/vrturningv1_47.zip) I think the 1st official response from Denford will be to install that. So it would be worth doing that and seeing how far you get and posting back.
Hope that helps

Re: I have just picked up a Starturn 5!
UPDATE Ive been running the machine for sometime now, lots of issues over getting the RS232 lead (wiring) sorted but got there in the end (glad I had to suffer RS232 control through work 20 odd years ago now). DOS control is not bad but kind of limiting. Gave up using LatheCAM designer as it was ver...

Re: Upgrading Starturn 4 to NextStep card to run VRTurning,
Good stuff, I'm toying with the idea of upgrading the control of my Starturn 5 from DOS control to windows based control, I bought Quickturn 2d design to produce files knowing the threading cycle wouldn't work so have to swap valid G code in for threading to work with the DOS software. I would love ...

Re: Novamill Column Raising Block
I've been following this for a while now and was wondering if the reason for not doing it might be them having to code for it, but that just seems crazy because even with my limited CAD experience I could produce a 3D model of this in about 20mins, I could then load it into a post processor and prod...

There is a page which lists all the software and what it will run, I can never find it when people ask BUT it does exist as I do stumble on it from time to time when digging about.... Denford only come on here in their spare time, it's not part of 'the job' as I understand it, so sometimes you have to go put the kettle on and sit down and think of other things until they get chance.

Re: Cyclone cut thread problem.
I have a DOS based starturn 5, I bought quickturn 2d Design knowing the screw output wouldn't work but for the benefit of being able to design stuff and get the G code, a bonus I found was that each different section of the outputted code starts with a description. I have not needed to do any thread...
