:? well, I've had some steppers working from the digiplan drivers using Mach 3 with, ermm interesting results... There seems to be a problem when changing direction, it appears that the direction pulse is rather sleepy and causes the motor to go rather crazy. It fafs around then runs fine as long as...

Sounds like a button problem - will it slow down?

Anyway you'd end up retro fiting Mach3 on it as the controls so basic by todays standards

:?: not sure what you mean by software there as turbocnc is for controlling the machine (ok so it's sw) & VR sw is for making bits.

do you want something for driving the orac or a CAD CAM package? (drawing & making bits)

Well......... The only bit that needs 3ph is the motor control - if you're good with wiring diags you can find the relevant offenders and change the inverter for a single phase in 3ph 230v out and you're sorted :) Oh and change the wiring for the motor to suit 230v easy eh?unless it's a Fanuc or hie...

I have been running a workshop in Montana
nice work if you can get it

So the pewter is poured directly into the mdf? I assume the die is a one shot die. How far do you fill the mould? - just to the top or overflowing?

BTW whats the melting point of pewter?

Spelling is not your strong point either then ? mitigating circumstances: 1. wine might increase your verbal fluency (in any language) but not the written word  2. It's a japanese word (I think roughly translated it means expensive parts) 3. The keyboard moves about after a bottle of wi...

There's a promimity switch under the cover just below the air ram, and as best I can work out is that it switches off the motor and hopes it stops in the right place! (well it usually works) If you can get it to do it once it doesn't seem that that would be the problem :? Go on tell us what control ...

Have you tried with a DTI? do a prog G00 Z0 Z-100 Z0 Z-100...etc then finish with Z-101 so that it kisses the DTI (which you've previously setto zero. If it don't work at rapids try feedrates just to see if you can make it work. I'm sure I've heard that those drives do that when they start going duf...

Hmm, any backlash wouldn't acumulate. something loose maybe but still won't give 3mm of error - other than a pulley loose, also check the tightness/state of the belt & while you're there make a note of the size for future reference.
