Re: Novamill Column Raising Block
Cast iron isn't as popular as it once was and such large sizes of stock are not always easy to procure where as mild steel is generally much more common. Personally I wouldn't bother with cast. For this use its not really any benefit. I made a riser from some offcuts of 3 1/2" x 1 1/2 mild cut and ...

Re: Novamill Column Raising Block
Hi Ben, I paid £90 for the material and I would expect about £250 for machining given there aren't many tight tolerance dimensions, might be worth contacting more of a jobbing shop? Plus its a one off job. When I enquired about getting it made I couldn't find anyone that wanted to take on cast iron...

Re: Novamill Column Raising Block
This is something id like to do at some point. Can the hood be refitted to accommodate the extra height? It would be nice to keep it. Edit: After taking a look at the drawing, I asked my local machine shop to give me an estimate, they've come back with £500 for set up and machining. does that sound ...

Service manual, or tips?
Ive had my Novamill for a few weeks now and after sorting out the tooling and what not. Ive been enjoying using it with Mach. Id love to know more about maintenance of it though, and things I should check. There is an sound coming from the Y axis motor which is a little odd, sort of grinding, where ...

Re: Coventry easy change tooling for the novamill
Ben, Coventry Engineering make or made a posilock chuck for the Easy Change system but I couldn't see it mentioned on their website. See comments here http://www.denfordata.com/bb/viewtopic.php?f=47&t=3911 and the attached picture is a shot of one of mine. easy_change_posilock.jpg Thanks David, aft...

Re: Coventry easy change tooling for the novamill
The term for the type of tooling with the flat for a grub screw is a Weldon shank, they come in many different sizes. I've seen they're not considered the best as it results in a slight runout of the cutter. I have a few for my Triac but mainly Clarkson autolock type for the Coventry easy change sy...

This isnt really machine specific, I have just bought a Novamill, with the coventry easy change fitted.
