Tried the paper tape option, but still the same only 1 line transmitted then just hangs. Default editor settings do not work at all, also tried the 'triac' configuration but with same results as pnc configuration.

No luck with the CPU killer,
how did you use the VMware, just downloaded it, but looks complicated to me?

I have just tried another PC, but still no luck.
I am a little lost for ideas at the moment :(

Have checked the IRQ settings, and there are no conflicts/sharing.

Tried altering the IRQ to other positions which were free, and this either caused no communication at all, or Ind Text editor to crash, so I am back to original IRQ of 04.

I think I am confusing you a little here. I understand M3 is clockwise. But as this is causing problems with the relay, I have swapped the motor wiring so now if I always program M04 (reverse), I will always get forward motion with no problems. Where as before the relay was required to 'switch' to o...

After thinking about this for a while, My intended solution if I can not get the relay to work, is to swap the motor wiring around and always programme M04 and the motor should always run forwards, as i am not likely to want to use reverse anyway.

Sometimes the motor does run forward but more oftern reverse.

I have played around with the relays but with no luck.
However i have removed the spindle control relay, no 3 I think (is this a good idea?) Now the motor seems to run in forward most of the time, but occasional reverse.

???

All cable tests ok, and all links are fitted.

Ind Text editor is set up with pnc settings.

Looking at flow settings i have the choice of:
No remote Flow
Use remote flow
or
No Local flow
use local flow

would the use local flow be similar to the software flow you mention?

Anybody know the answer?

Uploading/downloading Progs to Triac.

Having now got the '86 Triac set up, I wish to use the RS232 link for uploading and downloading programmes. I have made up the appropriate cable as described. However both Triac 4.2 and Ind text editor only have options for Com 1 or Com 2, wheras my PC's serial port is on Com 5. Is there any way of ...

As i am not fully up to speed with wiring diagrams, could some one tell me on the 'IBM to TRIAC' drawing below.
What the 'loop' symbol from pin 2 on the 7 pin connector stands for.

Cheers
