Re: MIRAC. ERROR 128.
Thanks for your reply. I read through a number of error 128 posts before starting this new thread. The reason two com ports are installed by my .go file is that one was used for a serial printer. This is no longer connected, so I suppose I could edit the .go file to only install the com port for the...

MIRAC. ERROR 128.
I have a Mirac, not the PC version, which has never worked whilst in my possession. At switch on the built in PC's BIOS shows that there are three com ports, which is correct. If I run the Mirac DOS software, as downloaded from this site, it aborts with error 128 after installing or perhaps attempti...

VR Milling 5. Software versions.
I've noticed that the last version of VR Milling 5 to be formally announced in this section is V5.61.
The version available from the download page is V5.66.
Is there a statement available showing the changes in the latest build?
Thanks.

Re: Arc converted to straight lines.
Sorry to disappoint you Pete, but the problem is still there in version 5.64.
It shouldn't be too difficult to write G Code to cut a 500mm dia semicircle. Just a G1 for the straight diameter cut and a G2 specifying the end point and arc radius for the semi-circular arc.

Re: Problem drilling holes.
I was running V5.63, but have now upgraded to V5.64. I can confirm that the problem is fixed in both builds. I probably hadn't noticed as I've been converting all DWG files to metric dimensions before importing them so as to avoid the problem. Many thanks. It would appear that no new version announc...

Re: Arc converted to straight lines.
I started this thread more than two years ago. At that time I naively thought that as I'd bought a licence for VR Milling 5 it would be a properly supported product. This clearly isn't the case and this isn't the only problem I've raised which hasn't been fixed. There's been no new software release ...

Brown Pestell VFD.
Is there anyone here who has a Brown Pestell VFD and would be able to check the value or colour code of resistor R66 for me. It's located next to IC7.
I'm repairing one of these units where R66 has gone very high in value and the colour code is indistinct.
Thanks, Max.

VR Milling Version 5.63
I notice that Version 5.63 has appeared on the download page. I've downloaded it and it runs OK.
What problems are addressed by this version?
Thanks.

Re: orac speed control
I notice that the document linked to in post #2 only contains the even numbered pages from the original hardcopy document.
Is there any chance of a scan of the odd numbered pages?
Thanks.

Re: Orac spindle drive problem
I see it's the board with the + and - 12VDC supplies. Make sure these are present on the PC1951 before you start measuring other things or you'll be chasing your tail. What is the S2074 board?

Re: Orac spindle drive problem
LF356's in round metal cans, as opposed to plastic Dual In Line (DIL) packages are available on UK ebay and from Farnell. You'll probably find that the actual device on your board has a suffix such as A, H or BH. Rather than probe the LF356 directly, with a risk of shorting its leads, it would be be...

Re: Orac spindle drive problem
There's a lot for me to think about there. Your break in Spain will give me a bit of breathing space. Following a cursory glance at your readings I've a couple of comments. 1. You mention using TB/2 as reference. It's obviously a typo, but I hope you meant TB1/2 (Terminal block 1, terminal 2). 2. Yo...

Re: Orac spindle drive problem
Here's how the circuit works:- A 6840 programmable timer on TI0.C module (S2044) generates a waveform, the characteristics of which vary with the spindle speed selected. The waveform turns a BC377 transistor on the same board on and off. The output of the BC377 alternately lights and extinguishes a ...

Re: Orac spindle drive problem
That's the diagram alright. I couldn't make head nor tail of it though, until I realised it's missing all the odd pages! I get the gist of it though. The relay on PC1951 does control the start and stop of the motor, so as long as you can start and stop the motor using M commands it's probably OK. Be...

Re: Orac spindle drive problem
Your voltage reading are fine and you've proved that the board has all the necessary power supplies. 5.2V from the 7805 is OK, it's the fact that it's stable that counts. I haven't worked out all the inputs to the board, but the outputs all go to the Spindle Speed Controller board which I believe ha...

I've traced the power wiring back to the regulator board. The two supplies are +12V and -12V.

Re: Orac spindle drive problem
I have located the drawing. I'll have to work out how it interfaces with the other circuit boards. It would be useful to check the power supply voltages on the board with a meter. Between terminals 2 and 3 of Terminal Block 1. Between terminals 2 and 1 of TB1. Between terminal 2 of TB1 and the outpu...
