"Advanced" option?

In the "Offsets / Tooling" drop down menu there's an option "Advanced" which can be ticked and unticked.

Can anybody tell me what this option does?

Thanks.

Re: Problem drilling holes.

I see that it's now two years since I reported this problem.

Is it likely to be fixed?

Re: How to create the code for this particular file?

I think it's down to the fact that any area selected must be made up of COMPLETE entities. The outer rectangle is made up of four complete straight lines, so can be selected. The circles are each complete circles, so can be selected. Other rectangles are made up of both complete straight lines and p...

Re: Z access retraction problem.

Thanks for that. I've set Z to 0 in the tool change parameters and it all now works OK. When I have the machine parameters window open and press F1, I get this message:- "The fields in this option should only be edited by your CNC machine Technician or Supervisor. Please refer to the separate parame...

Re: 1984 Easymill spindle motor, 440 volts only or dual volt

By all means try it, but remember that because of the way this motor is wired internally you'll need to connect the phase wires from your VFD to U1, V1 and W1 with no straps.

Re: 1984 Easymill spindle motor, 440 volts only or dual volt

The motor appears to be switchable between 4 and 8 poles, something I've not come across before. Internal and external wiring is probably as shown in this link:- http://www.elprom-gem.com/en/specials/two-speed-three-phase-motors.pdf. The lower set of diagrams are applicable to 4/8 pole motors. Looki...

Re: 1984 Easymill spindle motor, 440 volts only or dual volt

I'm afraid I cannot fully answer your question. The electrical wiring diagram for the Easymill can be downloaded here:- http://www.denfordata.com/bb/viewtopic.php?f=34&t=3420 Looking at sheet 2. When HIGH speed is selected contactors C1 and C2 are operated connecting the motor in delta. When LOW spe...

Re: 1984 Easymill spindle motor, 440 volts only or dual volt

Looking at the wiring diagram for the Easymill, it uses external star/delta switching for the spindle motor. This enables the high and low speed ranges to be selected. That accounts for there being six wires going to the motor rather than three and no brass straps.

As you say though, no inverter.

Re: 1984 Easymill spindle motor, 440 volts only or dual volt

Looking at the plate, it seems to be a two speed motor where the speed depends on whether the motor is connected in star or delta.

For some reason the straps for delta connection don't appear to be shown.

Re: 1984 Easymill spindle motor, 440 volts only or dual volt

All six connections to the windings have been brought out, so it should be possible to wire the motor in star or delta. Star connection:- power to U1, V1, W1, Link U2,V2,W2. Delta connection:- Link U1 & V2, V1 & W2, W1 & U2. power to U1, V1, W1. However it doesn't appear to be a dual voltage motor w...

TABS.

When importing a DXF or DWG file into VR Milling 5 and producing G Code from it, is there a way of adding tabs? By tabs I mean sections of the part outline which aren't machined to final depth. This prevents damage to the part as it breaks out of the billet.

Thanks.

Re: Coventry EASY-CHANGE chuck.

Thanks for the clarification. Yes, Coventry EASY-CHANGE chuck with Osbourne cutter holders and posi-lock collets. (The Triac Manual shows taper collets which I believe are Coventry types). The posi-lock collets are identical to those in my Osbourne Titanic chuck, but the centre in the Osbourne chuck...

Re: Coventry EASY-CHANGE chuck.

Coventry, Clarkson, Osbourne. This is getting confusing. The CHUCK definitely has EASY-CHANGE written on it, leading me to think it's a Coventry EASY-CHANGE chuck as described in the Triac manual. However the HOLDERS appear to be Osbourne types with posi-lock collets. I have an Osbourne chuck somewh...

Re: Coventry EASY-CHANGE chuck.

Interesting to receive a reply after so long. I thought perhaps I was the only person having a problem with these chucks. However I thought the 'C' type collets were an externally threaded draw in type. My chuck uses Posi-lock collets and I expect yours uses something similar. I can see that resting...

Coventry EASY-CHANGE chuck.

What's the correct way to fit a cutter to the holders used which this chuck? My holders have a fixed (ie not adjustable) internal centre and I'm using threaded cutters and collets. (The Triac manual refers to adjustable centres and makes no mention of screwed collets or screwed cutters). What I've b...

Re: Problem drilling holes.

Thanks for the prompt reply. As you suggest it works fine when the imported DWG file uses metric units.

A fix for the problem with imperial dimensions would be appreciated, as I work mainly in inches.

Problem drilling holes.

I'm using a Triac PC with VR Milling 5 latest version. I create a DWG file such as the attached, which is a simple plate with four drilled holes. Import the DWG file into VR Milling and specify imperial units. Move on to the billet window (billet size is OK), but I notice the holes are displayed not...
