Re: 1984 Easymill spindle motor, 440 volts only or dual volt

Looking at the plate, it seems to be a two speed motor where the speed depends on whether the motor is connected in star or delta.

For some reason the straps for delta connection don't appear to be shown.

Re: 1984 Easymill spindle motor, 440 volts only or dual volt

All six connections to the windings have been brought out, so it should be possible to wire the motor in star or delta. Star connection:- power to U1, V1, W1, Link U2,V2,W2. Delta connection:- Link U1 & V2, V1 & W2, W1 & U2. power to U1, V1, W1. However it doesn't appear to be a dual voltage motor w...

TABS.

When importing a DXF or DWG file into VR Milling 5 and producing G Code from it, is there a way of adding tabs? By tabs I mean sections of the part outline which aren't machined to final depth. This prevents damage to the part as it breaks out of the billet.

Thanks.

Re: Coventry EASY-CHANGE chuck.

Thanks for the clarification. Yes, Coventry EASY-CHANGE chuck with Osbourne cutter holders and posi-lock collets. (The Triac Manual shows taper collets which I believe are Coventry types). The posi-lock collets are identical to those in my Osbourne Titanic chuck, but the centre in the Osbourne chuck...

Re: Coventry EASY-CHANGE chuck.

Coventry, Clarkson, Osbourne. This is getting confusing. The CHUCK definitely has EASY-CHANGE written on it, leading me to think it's a Coventry EASY-CHANGE chuck as described in the Triac manual. However the HOLDERS appear to be Osbourne types with posi-lock collets. I have an Osbourne chuck somewh...

Re: Coventry EASY-CHANGE chuck.

Interesting to receive a reply after so long. I thought perhaps I was the only person having a problem with these chucks. However I thought the 'C' type collets were an externally threaded draw in type. My chuck uses Posi-lock collets and I expect yours uses something similar. I can see that resting...

Coventry EASY-CHANGE chuck.

What's the correct way to fit a cutter to the holders used which this chuck? My holders have a fixed (ie not adjustable) internal centre and I'm using threaded cutters and collets. (The Triac manual refers to adjustable centres and makes no mention of screwed collets or screwed cutters). What I've b...

Re: Problem drilling holes.

Thanks for the prompt reply. As you suggest it works fine when the imported DWG file uses metric units.

A fix for the problem with imperial dimensions would be appreciated, as I work mainly in inches.

Problem drilling holes.

I'm using a Triac PC with VR Milling 5 latest version. I create a DWG file such as the attached, which is a simple plate with four drilled holes. Import the DWG file into VR Milling and specify imperial units. Move on to the billet window (billet size is OK), but I notice the holes are displayed not...

Re: Axis Over-ride switch not working.

I don't think this is a hardware problem. As Denford Admin stated, all the limit switches and the Emergency Stop Button are NC types wired in series with the coil of the ESR Relay. Operating any limit switch releases the ESR Relay. The axis over-ride switch (NO) is wired in parallel with all the lim...

Thanks. I'll check the actual wiring of the switches against the diagram and proceed from there.

Re: Triac PC upgrade.

The machine is now working with a USB control card and VR Milling 5. No problems with the upgrade. The new card was a plug in replacement for the old, not forgetting to reconnect the ribbon cable from the adjacent card. Changing the supply voltage to the speed over-ride pots from 12V to 5V was a sim...

Axis Over-ride switch not working.

Triac PC running VR Milling 5. I've adjusted the 'Z' axis limit switch actuating bar to prevent the cutter going through the table if an offset is set up wrongly. Machine in jog mode. Head jogged downwards until it trips the Z axis limit switch, everything stops and "Emergency Stop" is displayed. No...

Re: Triac PC upgrade.

Sorry, but I've confused the issue. The control box definitely says Triac PC and has S/N 80714F. It was supplied to The Weald School. Looking at the upgrade document on this site, the card which is FITTED is described as a Rack Control Card, with the battery fitted between the red 7 segment display ...

Triac PC upgrade.

I have a Triac PC, S/N 80714F, Electrics S/N OC00203256, dated October 1998. It is fitted with a Rack Control Card almost the same as the one pictured in this thread:- http://www.denfordata.com/bb/viewtopic.php?f=54&t=3463 Is Controller B100434YY a direct plug in replacement for this card? MILL CAM DESIGNER LICENCE.

I have recently purchased a TRIAC PC which came with floppies for VR Milling 2 and Mill Cam designer. VR Milling runs fine as I used the licence floppy when installing it. Mill Cam Designer prompts me for the dongle, but the dongle I have is the wrong one, being for VR Robot. How can I obtain a lice...
