Re: Loose Y-axis ballscrew

Thank you Martin. Behind the timing pully there was the Tab nut. Tightened it one tab and got it all back eventually (its not easy access to say the least). Now I measure backlash around 0.003mm which I am really happy with. And I can tell the difference in the machine, it is much smoother and silen...

Loose Y-axis ballscrew

Hi I have been monitoring some 0.04mm backlash in the Y-axis on my 86-triac. Since I have shimmed my X-axis to now have a much better 0.004mm backlash I naturally thought that this was the case for the Y-axis too. So I made some shims and took the whole thing apart and then got the whole thing back ...

Re: Triac returns to action

Very nice work. Would be interesting to see how you set this cut up, special fixtures i guess but this is an issue that I always find intriguing and the "old guys at the work shop" never stop to amaze me in their smart ways to make their cut. Perhaps you did take a photo during machining? How long d...

86 Triac Head Weight

I remember someone asking about the total weight of the head of the Triac as he was putting in some extra gas springs as "counterweights". Well, as I have dismantled my machine I got a chase to get the weight and its..: 37 kg This is the weight of the things in the picture, so its approximate but I ...

Complete Triac PNC3 control, complete or in parts

Hi I have a complete PNC3 system for Triac for sale. Buy it complete or in parts as you like. The whole system works perfectly and includes a computer with DNC-software (free version) and the RS232 cable that is needed. The big black box that it is contained in is also in the deal here. The audio-sy...

Socket pinout and sensor voltage

Hi All I´m finally getting to converting my 86 Triac to Mach3. Now, I intend to have the machine intact and just rebuild the electronics. The best way would be if I could just use the socket from the machine and connect to my new controlling system. I have done some searching here but I cant find th...

Re: Triac front panel for input

My system is a PNC3. I am quite shure of that. There are pictures of it on my webpage (think there is a link i my signature here on the forum). Perhaps this is OT, and should be put under the Denford Classifieds (and looking there I saw your answer eyupyupi, so perhaps you already got what you neede...

Re: Triac front panel for input

I dont know how you are doing on this topic, but I am planning a Mach conversion of my -86 Triac and will be selling a complete and perfectly functioning controlling unit (the whole big black box). Perhaps you would want one..?

Thanks for the hint. Although the head look a lot similar there is a lot of changes. What I am looking for in particular is the dimensions of the bearings and how they are inserted (straight into the casting or is there a machines "bearing-seat"). I plan on making a house that bolts into the holes o...

1986 Triac Spindle Drawings?

Hi
Is there anyone that have drawings or such of the TRIAC (-86 or similar) spindle?
I am planning a new spindle for higher speeds.

Thanks

Hi all I use a 86-Triac. I suspect that the controlsystem is the same (PNC3, correct me anyone if I am wrong). There is an alternative route if you dont want to go the dos way. I have succesfully used easyDNC which has complete coverage for the PNC3 protocol. This is probably the best way to go. Als...

Sweet!! I like your probe, is that your doings or is it a commercial one. I am about to make one of my own and interested in your mechanical solution and what accuracy you have got from it. Also, did you use a microprocessor in it to beeing able to track switching bounces? More that that your mashin...

fantastic job. Loved the vid. Your machine is awsome now. A very inspirational thread. Good to see someone actually do the conversion.
Quest: how much have you put into this project, roughly?

GOOD WORK! I would love to see it run. Myself, I was running stepper and old PNC3 today... it really starts to tick me off. Next big proj may be this servo mod. You made it look so simple:-) Will be interesting to see a test report on accuracy and repetability and so on in the future, and also if yo...

Ahh, theres the Z-axis. But as you mention 4um, how are you ballscrews doing? I have about 0.02 - 0.04 mm backlash in my axes (is that the correct plural form of axis in english?). From reading some in this forum the backlash could, and often are, source from the axial bearings rather than the balls...

Wow, nice work. What kind of encoders do you use, have learnt that there are a range of different types other than optical? Are the excentrical placment of the motor in the bracket to be able to adjust belt tention? I see three Rutex drives but two motors, I guess that you left the Z motor out in th...

Keep updating and if you can post some pic;s

Good work hpdrifter, this is a real "value added" thread. I have suspected it to be doable all since I got my Triac, but never got around to look into it. One tends to work around ones problems rather than to solve them.. Anyways, I would be up for a set also if they would came avaliable just to let...
