You can't do metric-inch or inch-metric by just changing the stud gears a-g, you need compound gears like 127/100 or 127/130 in the train. Original gears are just normal mild steel. You'd have to be careful with plastic gears but they might get you out of trouble. You could keep the steel D gear on there most of the time.

Do you have gear cutting equipment?

Yas I have dril with big tapol and rotary tapol and anather lathe

Gear D doesn't do reversing, except that it sits on the tumbler reverse pivot. The tumbler itself does the reversing.
