Re: My machine improvements
Here's the mill finally. A lot of the upgrades not visible. Running UCCNC with a touch screen interface. 5500rpm dc spindle 0.55kW with index sensor added and a sprint 800 drive. x and y steppers replaced with 400 step per rev units. X stepper has a coolant sheild (that's what killed the last one. A...

Re: My machine improvements
I'd be interested to see pic and drawing for the TTS conversion Thanks Matt I don't have any drawings but I'll upload a few pictures shortly. It's basically a frame with a lever and a few belville washers. Because the machines so low powered I have got away with less spring pressure than they would...

Re: My machine improvements
Finally I have purchased a replacement spindle motor good for 9000 rpm and will swap out the spindle bearings at the same time. I have just acquired a Star Mill and plan an upgrade, it would be useful to know what motor you are using for the upgrade, TIA, Nick Ni Nick, I found a small SEM 0.5 kW dc...

My machine improvements
I have just done a bit more improvement to my starmill and thought it may be useful to others. The starmill is stated to have 170x100mm table travel. I had to replace my stepper motor on the x and lost 5mm. Since then I have machined down the end bearing block down by 10mm to get to 175 once the blo...

Spindle Drawings
I have a starmill ive been running for a while with an R8 spindle. Looking at converting it to iso30 to match my triac.
Is it possible to get drawings of the spindle? Also no chance theres one knocking around?
I believe the drawing nunber is RMJ/104

Re: Fenner Drive wiring for mach3
I received the new board yesterday but the machine had progressed to the naughty corner for the weekend. I will be back looking at it tonight so hopefully will make some headway. The drive I have is a Fenner 522A3700. Any understanding of the connections would be of use. Im very much out of my depth...

Re: Fenner Drive wiring for mach3
I belive the BOB was generating an isolated 0-10V however when hooked up it seemed to create a floating live which gave me a belt. What I meant to say is I used an optocoupler isolator to get around this. That worked. I'm very much at the stage of researching and muddling my way through this build s...

Fenner Drive wiring for mach3
I am converting the starmill to mach3 with the intention of selling it as i have acquired a triac. I am having a little trouble getting the fenner drive to work without the denford boards. I bought the mill with a lot of electronics missing but have the fenner. I have a 0-10V input this goes through...

Re: All new electronics
Iron-Man - thanks ill have a look through it to see what you did. Is it a tachogenerator feedback that gives the spindle rpm control in your setup? i assume thats what ill be using to ensure threading happens correctly. Im also half way through a mill conversion, though im on a starmill not a triac ...

Re: All new electronics
My coding knowledge is terrible at best, i have a little help from someone at work with a far better understanding than me so im using this as a bit of a learning opportunity. (with enormous amounts of help needed  ) thanks, any ideas of what the code needs to look like are much appreciated. I ...

Re: Schematic Circuit Diagrams for the Novaturn
Thanks for the schematics, i am currently trying to build a new set of electronics for my novaturn as none came with it. I am looking at the spindle drive and the encoder feedback does anyone have any ideas about the missing page 4? Is the encoder feedback converted into a tacho signal?

Re: All new electronics
I have started making some progress with the lathe finally, i have been a little absent up until recently so seem to have missed that sprint drive. I will be running the machine on UK mains so the 180V wont be an issue. I seem to have hit a snag with the encoder feedback on the machine from the spin...

All new electronics
I have recently purchased a NovaTurn lathe. Unfortunately missing all of the electronics. I have a Parker 508-01-20-00 DC drive, and stepper controllers. I am looking at using GRBL control and GRBLGRU as the main software. I am struggling with getting enough info on how the toolpost works. Any help ...
