TRIAC FANUC OM-C ATC

Thinking of selling my TRIAC. :( as I don't seem to be using it as much as I had expected to. All functionality works and comes with laptop and cable for unlimited drip feeding (I have run programmes with 10k plus lines without a problem). The laptop has freeware on it for the drip feed. She is thre...

Re: Looking for power info for Fanuc VMC Triac

Mine (1990 MY) runs fine off a 4HP (3kW) rotary phase converter that itself runs off a 20A D rated breaker. Never had a problem cutting steel, ali or plastic.

The FLC on my machine's plate is 26A (3ph). I have a 1Hp spindle if that helps the comparison.

Re: Axis drive motors

Any photos of the machine? I have a 1990 triac with 6 station ATC on Fanuc that is using servos not steppers. Are yours the same? If you are on servos then I would suggest that the 3 axis drive is 3 phase, as is the suds pump. A lot of clever people (well cleverer than me!) looked at the electricker...

Vice advice

Looking to get a manual vice for my Triac. Particularly interested in one with minimal height to maximise what I can fit in under the spindle.

Any recommendations please?

Re: Y axis homing problem

Success!! Turns out to simply be a gummed up proximity switch - if I had looked at the diagnostic screen when the machine was homing I would have seen that the switch wasn't disengaging all the way to the over travel switch. A quick blast of contact cleaner and some manual cycling of the switch and ...

Re: Y axis homing problem

Thanks for the reply Martin. I am not sure I quite understand what you want me to do when you say "checking the distance between the 2 switches using the control." The switches are approximately 50mm apart I would estimate (not in front of the mill right now to check) but certainly significantly mor...

Y axis homing problem

1990 TRIAC VMC running Fanuc OM-C control. All was working fine until one afternoon getting her to home on the Y axis was temperamental but after a few attempts she did home after which she functioned normally. That was last weekend. Now however she will not home on Y at all. X & Z home normally. Th...

Re: Basic FANUC question

Well this thread is now pretty much redundant - I am now able to send code via M29 DNC mode so nice easy programming on the laptop in front of the fire :)

Thanks for the input, I'm off to the man cave to snap endmills........ :delirious:

A bit of dripfeeding help please

OK, so to my surprise I have managed to get my Windows 7 laptop to talk to my 1990 FANUC Triac. I am using a USB to RS232 board like this: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/260836648666 and a 9 way to 25 way RS232 lead made up to the specification quoted elsewhere on this site. I put the machine in DNC mode...

Re: Basic FANUC question

Yep - I am using the EOB button at present (see first post ;) ) but was hoping there is a tidier way of inputting the code?

Re: Basic FANUC question

Yes, there is an Input button. It works in MDI mode to put in words but in edit mode it doesn't do anything.

Basic FANUC question

When programming by Triac FANUC OM-C I can enter in the individual "words" like G00 or M06 etc but how do I enter the words that need to follow like M06 T02 for example? At the moment my work around is to hit "EOB" after the M06 then type in the T02, hit EOB then go back up in the programme and hit ...

Re: Possibly a very naive question, but hey I'm new to this!

OK, so I have been researching inverters and to be frank I am totally confused. Has anyone run a 3 phase triac successfully off an inverter? What single phase current draw am I looking at? I am limited to 20A at present unless I upgrade the supply to the garage which I would rather avoid, even if it...

Possibly a very naive question, but hey I'm new to this!

New to the Forum and all things CNC so be gentle! I have got myself a Triac Fanuc OM-C. It is three phase which I don't have so I was planning to run it off an inverter - no surprises there. However, I was feeling brave the other day and opened up the back of the electrical cabinet and saw this stic...
