Re: Triac vmc draw bar

On my Triac the toolholders often wouldn't release when the pneumatic cylinder was activated, and after checking the oil level in the cylinder, which was OK, all it needed was a little adjustment to move it down nearer the drawbar.
I've not had any problems since.

Re: Help with Triac VMC converting to Mach

What is de reason you went with Mach and not Edingcnc? Why go with Edingcnc and not Mach4/Centroid/UCCNC/<other machine controller>? No idea yet, just trying to figure out why mostly see Mach users and less Edingcnc Simply because Mach is one of oldest and most popular machine controllers, however ...

Re: Spindle Pulley pitch/Spec

L is an older imperial pulley/belt tooth size. 150 refers to the belt length. IIRC the older imperial sizing is in length, so 150 meaning the belt is 15" long. (metric belts are typically measured by number of teeth). The only thing you need to physically measure is the belt/pulley width, but going ...

Re: BARRUFALDI TOE80,

They are item 032 in the Barafuldi TOE80 manual (page 18 shows the diagram). They fit under caps on the front and back (as you face the lathe), which IIRC require a pin spanner to remove. It's been a while since I sold my lathe, but I think they're either a hard rubber, or some form of plastic/polym...

It's probably just needing new buffer pads.

IIRC James knows the dimensions and has made them in the past.

Re: Spindle encoder fault

Do you have an oscilloscope, or multimeter with a frequency (Hz) display? First check is obviously the basics, in checking there is power/gnd going to the encoder. You can also try measuring the encoder output voltage, and moving/stopping the spindle in random locations to see if the output changes....

Re: BARRUFALDI TOE80,

I looked for a replacement after I crashed my turret shearing a few pins and splitting a couple gears, but I couldn't find anything suitable. I never found any small enough horizontal turret, even trying various Chinese manufacturers. In the end I got new pins and gears custom made, however I did co...

Enclosure gas strut specs?

Does anybody know the specification of the gas strut that holds the enclosure open?

The necessary details on the label on mine have faded.

Re: Baruffaldi TOE 80 locking

Sounds like you're going to have to dismantle the turret. I crashed my Cyclone last year, which resulted in shearing the three pins that carry the epicyclic gears, along with splitting one of the gears. I did get in touch with Barfuldi, but the only thing they offered was if I sent the turret to the...

I am a bit puzzled what the two Blue wires at the top of the drive in your photo, I have never seen any wires connected like that on any Sprint drive on any machine, suggest you ask Denford what they are for.
They're connected to the stall detection output from the Sprint drive.

Re: BT35 Toolholders

The main reason I bought my Triac, was because it included a collection of tool holders. I have bought some random holders via eBay, but BT35 stuff is getting pretty rare. I can't even remember the last time my saved search suggested any in the UK. I ended up getting a custom batch of ER holders mad...

Denford Cyclone

I'm needing workshop space, so I'm selling my Cyclone. It's one with a larger 160mm chuck and corresponding 6 position turret. Originally it was a stepper driven PC controlled lathe, but I converted it with two Kinco servos (750W on the Z, and 400W on the X), and a Dynomotion KFlop/Kanalog combinati...

Re: ATC leaking air help

I had to replace both on my Triac when I bought it. I bought them from https://www.airlines-pneumatics.co.uk/pneumatics/cylinders/mini-iso-cylinders/cylinders-mini-iso-parker-p1a/s030100/ although I see prices have gone up quite a bit since I bought them. I think the up/down ram is part number 10560...

Re: Hot Spindle Bearings

Too much grease can be worse than too little grease, but excess grease should work it's way out.

It sounds like you've possibly ran the spindle up too fast. I'd normally increase spindle speed in 500rpm increments every 15minutes, ensuring there's no significant heat generated before each increment.

Re: Hot Spindle Bearings

Sounds like you've overtightened the bearings. How long did you run the spindle for between speed increments? Try slackening the retaining nut slightly (probably 1/8th turn would do to start with), and running again. If the spindle is warming up after 30 minutes of running, you'll have it about righ...

Re: Phase converter

At the minimum you'll need a rotary converter, as a static converter relies on having a motor attached to generate the false phase. Off course, you can just attach a big motor to a static converter to create a rotary converter. I have been experimenting with using a 4KW boost VFD (VFD with built in ...

What is wrong with your turret?
I had a slight mishap setting up a new tool, so one off the internal planet gears is now a rather expensive jigsaw.
I'm just waiting to hear if the parts are still available, and if they are, how many limbs/organs they're going to cost :?

Re: Leader pneumatic air chuck replacement with manual chuck

What is the largest manual chuck anyone has put on the Cyclone? The spec plate says 150mm max but that seems to be a non-standard size. So I've got the choice of either 125mm or 160mm. I would prefer the 160mm but would that cause a problem? I found out that the 200mm (~8") backplate is actually an...

I would like to know what my VFD is set to, however I've never been able to find the PIN to access the settings. That's interesting that you mention the need for a PIN to access the settings on the KEB F4 VFD. How do you know this as the KEBs as supplied by Denford come with neither a Display Opera...
