Re: Harison TU150 Collet Chuck and Draw tube mechanism

You don't mention the collets you intend to use but would a Kalamazoo 5C chuck do what you require https://kalamazooind.com/products/5c-collet-fixtures/1cc-5c-collet-fixture-for-chucks/ , it can be held in a 3 jaw chuck if required. It doesn't need a drawbar as the threaded rear of the collet is scr...

Re: Looking for some basic information for Orac electrics rebuild

There is this thread viewtopic.php?f=43&t=6223 where LinuxCNC has been used with the standard spindle encoders and a simple BOB.

Re: Happy New Lathe Day (Part 2!)

I have the same bandsaw but bought new and as with many of these Chinese items largely just thrown together in the factory with no or little consideration for how well they work but having said that once the issues were dealt with and it set-up correctly it's a great little work horse and now cuts v...

Re: Turn 270 Pro General questions

I can't help with the Turn 270 questions but regarding the internal tooling pockets they sound the same as on my Orac toolchanger and I believe 3/4" ID as that's 19.05mm. 3/4" round bar is a spot on fit although I haven't used them so far.

Re: Happy New Lathe Day (Part 2!)

As I understand it you can't disengage the half nuts when cutting a metric thread with an inch pitch leadscrew and vice versa or you'll lose synchronisation even with a threading dial so not much point in making a metric threading dial unless you're going to change the leadscrew to metric. Which QCT...

Re: Happy New Lathe Day (Part 2!)

Why limit yourself to inch thread pitches when you can 3D print a metric conversion set while your at it, either with a 127 tooth gear if it'll fit or one of the very close approximation ratios that suit most practical uses. I think that's what's in my Harrison M300 as it will do both inch and metri...

Re: Happy New Lathe Day (Part 2!)

I think you'll find with the knob in and fine gears engaged it's not locked the carriage to the bed but rather to the leadscrew so if you turn the leadscrew the carriage should move. As there doesn't seem to be any gearing involved it should produce the same movement as the half nuts which the lever...

Re: Happy New Lathe Day (Part 2!)

I think the knob may be the longitudinal feed engagement, when in it will prevent the gear running against the leadscrew from rotating from what I've read and seen so it'll be drive the carriage along the bed. The lower gear appears to be an idler to support the leadscrew preventing it from flexing ...

Re: Quick Change Tool Post

The T63 is a Dickson toolpost clone, see http://www.lathes.co.uk/latheparts/page13.html , and note the details about varying quality and research your supplier for what they sell. I have a genuine Dickson S1 and a Bison version again S1 or T1 which are both the same size as the T63. Lathes.co.uk men...

Re: HNLD

Phil, If you haven't come across it already you might want to try the free 3D modeller Freecad for Windows/Mac/Linux https://www.freecad.org/ as it has a gears workbench add on so you can create various types of gears. You'd need to add a cylinder to represent your shaft and subtract it from the gea...

Re: How to setup a Turn270PRO tooling and workshift

Steve, I got it in the end and it is 1.5Gb which was the issue. It seems large transfers such as that can often be problematic and may fail due to network issues. With Firefox I was getting about 64Mb consistently before it failed, a neighbour got about 325Mb with Windows before it dropped the conne...

Re: How to setup a Turn270PRO tooling and workshift

Steve, Can you post the ZIP file size as I downloaded it again and no joy. The file fails to unzip on Win10 with a 'failed to create file or directory' error and similar on an iMac. My Ubuntu Linux machine gives and 'unexpected end of file' error. Never had any issues downloading files from the foru...

Re: How to setup a Turn270PRO tooling and workshift

The file seems to be incomplete or corrupt as initial download indicates 1.4 Gb but only about 60Mb downloads before completion and the resulting ZIP file is said to be invalid.

More information turns up searching for GTCNC-60TT such as the attached PDF o...

Re: Emergency Stop Alarm (Relay)

Have you checked the relay coil is OK, after that if you look at the wiring diagram for the ESR power it should give some hints of how to isolate the fault. The axis override switch if it gets it going would indicate a problem in the limit switches or their wiring, then there's motor thermal, drive ...

Re: triac vmc startup

Not sure what version of Windows you're using but there should be an option to copy the system files to the floppy or make bootable when formatting it . Some more details here https://kb.iu.edu/d/adav for DOS and should apply to the command prompt in Windows.

Re: Microrouter V5 settings

I don't know the Microrouter and don't have one to measure but as no one else has replied I thought I would. The documentation says the steppers are 200 steps/rev which is standard so that indicates to me that the pitch is incorrect which should be easy to check with a ruler, 1.575mm would be an odd...

Re: Maxirouter PWM

If the laser information I read is correct then it really wants a PWM input between 5V and 12V with reference to the GND connection in which case tying it to any voltage between 5V and 12V will give you full power as it's effectively a 100% PWM, maybe you could use a voltage to PWM converter. By 'ga...
