The tapes are unique to the cassette player & will accept no other tape. They are now obsolete.
However, I have new tapes available.

I can repair the tape drive as well as anything on the controller. I used to work for the company (NEE) who built them.
The inverter is used to drive the spindle motor. The stepper motors are driven from the 3 drives situated under the VDU screen on the controller.

Im confident that the problem will be on the power card & not the Toroidal transfomer. However, if you need to check it, here are the voltages you should expect on the transformer connector.
